Severe Weather

Florida's hurricane season lasts from June 1st through November 30th. The National Hurricane Center provides information about hurricanes and other severe weather at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov

During any threatening weather, LSSC monitors updates from the National Weather Service and National Hurricane Center in coordination with local authorities in Lake & Sumter counties.  In the event of a college-wide or specific campus closure, local newspapers, TV and radio outlets will also be notified.

LSSC Security & Facilities

If people, equipment, or buildings could be endangered or damaged by failure to correct the problem promptly or if the problem poses a security risk, then consider it an emergency.

During regular office hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, complete a “Track-IT,” Facilities Work Order. After hours and when Facilities personnel are not readily available, an emergency should be reported to Security at:

Leesburg - (352) 516-3795
South Lake - (352) 536-2143
Sumter - (352) 303-7296

Informa-Cast System

Should a weather emergency happen with very short notice, such as a tornado, all classrooms and offices are also now equipped with the Informa-cast system that will alert you to what the emergency is and what steps you should take to respond to the emergency.
