Title IX and Sexual Harassment

Title IX and Sexual Harassment Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects people from sex discrimination in educational programs and activities at institutions that receive federal financial assistance. Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) is committed to providing an environment free from discrimination on the basis of sex. LSSC provides resources to students, faculty and staff to address concerns relating to discrimination on the basis of sex, which includes sexual misconduct. The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, which enforces Title IX, has recently provided detailed guidance on how educational institutions, like LSSC, must investigate and respond to complaints of sexual assault and sexual harassment.
