Lake-Sumter Mathematics Department
Hello and welcome to the website of the Lake-Sumter Mathematics Department. We invite you to use this site to get acquainted with the faculty in the department as well as the mathematics courses at Lake-Sumter.
Throughout the coursework at LSSC, the mathematics courses will prepare students to use problem solving skills, apply quantitative reasoning, enhance computational skills, and use appropriate technologies.
The Mathematics Department offers a wide range of courses, from Developmental Math I to Calculus III, that enable students to fulfill program requirements at Lake-Sumter or to transfer with advanced standing into four-year degree programs. We teach the courses using a variety of delivery methods, including hybrid and online. Our innovative faculty strive to meet the needs of the students, to provide an environment in which all students are comfortable and able to learn, to develop an appreciation for the beauty, power and usefulness of mathematics within our students; all the while maintaining academic integrity.
The Chair of the Mathematics Department is Sybil Brown. Mrs. Brown's office is on the South Lake Campus in building 2 room 337. When she is on the Leesburg Campus she can be found in the Science-Math building room 129 in the math faculty office suite behind the lobby elevator.
Mrs. Brown's South Lake Campus office hours are Monday and Wednesday from 8:30-9 am and 11-12:30pm and Tuesday from 8-9 am.
