Volunteering for Kids’ College to Earn Public Service Volunteer Hours

Who: Students going into 10th-12th grades can volunteer. No experience is necessary, however an appropriate attitude is required. 

What: Volunteer Public Service for Kids' College, an educational program with a mixture of academics, arts, crafts and sports for ages 7 to 14. Responsibilities include assisting teachers and students to create a safe and positive atmosphere for the participants. 

Dates:        Leesburg: June 3 - 13  ~ June 17 - 27  ~ July 8 - 18                            

                        Clermont: June 10 - 20  ~ June 24 - July 3  ~ July 8 - 18

Times: 7:30-5:30 pm; 8:00-5:00 pm; 8:15-1:00 pm; 11:50-4:20 pm; 8:15-4:20 pm

Days: : Mondays - Thursdays

Requirements: 1. Submit application, 2. pay the non-refundable $25 fee for the Leadership Training and 3. attend the mandatory orientation for the selected campus:

  • Leesburg Campus: May 29, 2019 from 2:00-4:30 p.m. at Lake Sumter State College, 9501 US Hwy 441, Leesburg, FL 34788 in the Magnolia Room.

  • Clermont Campus: June 7, 2019 from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at Lake Sumter State College, 1250 N. Hancock Rd., Clermont, FL 34711 in CML-108A/B.

Why: Earn 100 hours or more of volunteer public service hours in one summer for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program, job applications, college applications and other scholarships. This is a great way to help out in your community and assist in providing youth with an opportunity to explore their interests and learn new skills.
