Lake-Sumter Community College

Student Government Association

The LSSC Student Government Association (SGA) represents the entire student body. Its purpose is to plan student activities, hold discussions, present student suggestions to the faculty and administration, and act in an advisory capacity to students at Lake-Sumter State College. SGA has officers at the Leesburg and South Lake who host weekly meetings open to all currently enrolled LSSC students. SGA meets each week of regularly scheduled classes unless the college is closed. See schedule below.

SGA officer positions include: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Senator, Treasurer, Director of Social Activities, Director of Public Relations, Director of Community Service, Director of Educational Events, and Director of Fundraising. The qualifications for SGA officers include being enrolled in at least six ( 6) credit hours at LSSC, have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, and have leadership potential. Applications are found under the Student Leader Application tab on the menu. Officers receive leadership training and service scholarships for their service.

LSSC is involved with the statewide Florida College System Student Government Association (FCSSGA). SGA officers and members attend meetings and conferences with other college system students to debate current legislative trends, participate in leadership training, and network.
