Steps to Enrollment for Students Displaced by Hurricane Maria

Step 1 - Complete an Application

You will need to complete the paper Admissions application and turn in to any one of our campus locations. Printed copies are available at our campuses.

Step 2 - Complete New Student Orientation

If this is your first time in college, you will need to complete the two-part orientation program known as SOAR.  Learn more about SOAR here.

If you were enrolled in college or have previously attended college, then you should plan to meet with an Academic Advisor before registering for classes.  Details on how to schedule an appointment can be found here. Please bring your unofficial transcript with you to this meeting.

Step 3 - Submit your transcripts

You will need to provide LSSC with a copy of your high school transcript along with a transcript from any college or university that you previously attended.

Step 4 - Financial Aid 

In order to be considered for federal financial aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov. After doing so, please contact the LSSC Financial Aid office for any additional documentation requirements.

If you already receive federal financial aid from a Hurricane Maria impacted school and would like to transfer your financial aid to LSSC, please go to the FAFSA website and update your information with LSSC's school code of 001502.

Step 5 - Activate your Lakehawk Mail

Activate and begin using your Lakehawk Mail account as soon you are admitted to LSSC. Instructions on activating your account can be found here. All communication between LSSC students, faculty, and staff is done via Lakehawk Mail. This email address is also a source of critical information, including weather and safety notifications.

Step 6 - Register for Classes

Register for classes using your LOIS (LSSC Online Interactive Services) Account.

Step 7 - Complete an Out-of-State Tuition Waiver Form

After you have registered for courses, you will need to the complete the Hurricane Maria Out-of-State Tuition Waiver and submit that along with supporting documents to the Enrollment Services area of any LSSC campus location.

Step 8 - Submit Payment

Please make sure that your Hurricane Maria Out-of-State Tuition Waiver and any additional fees are paid prior to the fee payment deadlines. You can find the fee payment deadlines on the 2017-2018 Academic and Registration Calendar at www.lssc.edu/calendar
