Submit Florida Residency for In-State Tuition

All students are initially classified as non-residents for tuition purposes. Residency is based on legal domicile and supporting documentation, is not retroactive, and must be submitted by published deadlines.

Seeing non-resident tuition?

Florida law requires LSSC to determine residency for tuition purposes. Residency is based on legal domicile and supporting documentation (not intent alone), and determinations are not retroactive.

Fee Payment Deadline

Important: All tuition and fees must be paid in full by the published fee payment deadline for each term. Students who do not meet the deadline may be dropped from their courses.

The fee payment deadline is typically several days before the start of classes. Check the Academic & Registration Calendar for specific dates for your term.

Course Drop Deadline

If you need to drop a course to reduce your balance, you must do so before the fee payment deadline. Courses dropped after this deadline may still result in financial responsibility for the full amount.Credit Card Payment Policy

Refunds & Disbursements

Refunds are processed after financial aid disburses and attendance is reported. If your financial aid or other payments exceed your charges, you will receive a refund of the excess amount.

Refunds are typically issued within 14 days after the start of the semester, provided your financial aid file is complete and you have attended your classes.

For the fastest refund processing, we strongly recommend signing up for direct deposit (eRefunds) through your myLSSC account.

Direct Deposit (eRefunds)

Direct deposit is the fastest and most secure way to receive your financial aid refund. Set up direct deposit in your myLSSC account by providing your bank routing and account numbers.

Without direct deposit, refunds are issued by paper check and mailed to your address on file, which can take several additional weeks.

Florida Prepaid

If you have a Florida Prepaid College Plan, you must activate your plan each semester through the Florida Prepaid website. LSSC will bill Florida Prepaid directly for eligible tuition and fees.

Activate your plan before the fee payment deadline to avoid being dropped from your courses. Any charges not covered by your Prepaid plan (such as certain course fees or textbooks) remain your responsibility.

Financial Obligations

Students are responsible for all tuition and fees for courses in which they are enrolled, regardless of attendance. If you stop attending a course, you must officially drop or withdraw to avoid financial responsibility.

Unpaid balances may result in holds on your account, preventing registration, transcript requests, and degree conferral. Delinquent accounts may be referred to a collection agency.

If you are experiencing financial difficulty, contact the Business Office or Financial Aid office immediately to discuss your options.

1098-T Tax Form

Course Drop Deadline

LSSC provides IRS Form 1098-T to students who paid qualified tuition and fees during the calendar year. This form may help you claim education tax credits when filing your federal income tax return.

Your 1098-T form is available electronically through your myLSSC account by January 31 each year. You can view, download, and print your form at any time.

Consult a tax professional or visit IRS.gov for information about education tax benefits and whether you qualify.
