Tuition Installment Plan (TIP)

To help meet the needs of our students, Lake-Sumter State College is pleased to provide the Tuition Installment Plan (TIP) for all students requiring assistance with managing their educational expenses.

Since the cost of higher education has increased in recent years, the TIP program will allow students to pay for tuition and fees over a period of time rather than one lump sum payment during the first few weeks of the registration process.

Lake-Sumter State College has contracted with Nelnet Business Solutions to administer this program. Nelnet will be responsible for the TIP plan enrollment and for receiving the monthly payments.

For more information on the TIP program, including enrollment deadlines and steps to enroll, please visit

Frequently Asked Questions

How are TIP payments processed?

After the plan is established, payments will be processed on the 20th of each month. Payments do not need to be made directly to Lake-Sumter State College or Nelnet. They will be deducted from the account automatically.

If the payment is rejected due to insufficient funds, Nelnet will re-attempt to collect the payment on the 5th of the following month. Nelnet will make 3 payment attempts. If the third payment attempt is not successful, the Tuition Installment Plan will be terminated.

In addition, a fee will be charged for each missed payment.

All fees may be due payable directly to Lake-Sumter State College or to Nelnet. Once the plan is terminated, if payment in full is not made by the established payment deadline, students may be dropped from all of their classes.

What if I add or drop classes?

Once enrolled in the TIP program, adjustments will be made in the event courses are dropped or added prior to the adjustment deadlines. The adjustments will either increase or decrease the TIP balance and monthly payments accordingly.

To increase the TIP balance, classes must be added prior to the enrollment deadline for the plan. Charges for any classes added after the enrollment deadline must be paid directly to LSSC prior to the payment deadline for the term.

What if I have financial aid?

For established TIP programs, adjustments will not be made to the plan based on financial aid.

Nelnet will continue with monthly deductions per the payment schedule until the account is paid in full.

Financial Aid awards will be refunded to students after they are disbursed by the financial aid office.
