At the 2022 Employee Service Recognition Ceremony, Lake-Sumter State College President Dr. Heather Bigard celebrated 95 employees for their commitment to the mission of this great College!

Employees were recognized for between 5 and 50 years of service to Lake-Sumter State College! In addition, three employees were recognized for their exemplary service with a President’s Award.

“Without you, we could not fulfill our mission at the College,” said President Bigard at the event. “You have been with us as we have grown and have helped us change the way that we serve our students and our community.  Today, we honor you while we look forward to the future with optimism and excitement!”

Congratulations to the following employees who were recognized with a President’s Award:

A Lifetime of Service

30 YEARS – Dr. Minerva Haugabrooks, Associate Professor of Nutrition
“Dr. Haugabrooks has seen tremendous change at the College in her 30 years,” said President Bigard. “She has served under four college presidents and witnessed an incredible expansion of the college from one to three location!”

50 YEARS – Joyce Brautcheck, Payroll Operations Manager
“50 years! Wow! Joyce has seen so much progress at this college since 1971,” shared President Bigard. “She has had the privilege of seeing all seven college presidents and the significant expansion of the college from its facilities, locations, employees, and mission.”

President Bigard actually surprised Joyce last week with a magnolia tree planted outside the Williams-Johnson Building in her honor. This permanent addition to the Leesburg Campus with a dedication plaque will serve as a reminder of Joyce’s dedication and impact on Lake-Sumter State College.
