WWe hope that you are continuing to stay safe as Tropical Storm Debby moves through our area. We encourage you to stay prepared and continue to exercise caution on the roadways.

Lake-Sumter State College will be operating normally tomorrow, Monday, Aug. 5.  Classes and final exams will continue as scheduled. Student services and campus offices will be open standard hours.

Our Facilities and IT teams have worked through the weekend to ensure that we are prepared for this severe weather and that our systems stay online. If you encounter a facility or technology issue (water leak, network outage, etc.) please report it to helpdesk@lssc.edu or call (352) 365-3505. Please call Campus Safety with any urgent situations.

Finally, we remind you to sign up for emergency notifications from your County Emergency Management. You can receive alerts from Lake County by signing up for AlertLake and from Sumter County by signing up for AlertSumter. If you live in another county, please visit Alert Florida to sign up for emergency alerts from your county.

Lake-Sumter State College is actively monitoring the tropical weather system moving toward Florida. Latest forecasts show the arrival of weather from this tropical system to be this weekend through early next week.

At this time, no decision has been made regarding closing Lake-Sumter State College. We will provide regular updates through email, social media and LSSC.edu as we have additional information.

The College is coordinating with state and local emergency management officials to prepare for the possibility of weather impacts.

If a decision to close the College is made, an announcement will be made through the LSSC Alert system. All faculty, staff and students are automatically enrolled in this system.
