The ASN program requires an overall cumulative GPA of 2.50, in addition to specific prerequisite grade requirements. Please refer to page 3 of the Program Core Information Packet for details. GPA is not taken from prerequisite coursework alone, it is taken from ALL course work completed.

No, applications are accepted two times per year; once in the Spring for General Fall and Summer Bridge starts, and then in the Summer for General Spring start.
Applicants who do not receive a seat in any application opportunity must reapply to be considered in a future selection process.
The General Track accepts 50 nursing students per cohort (Fall and Spring) for a total of 100 students per calendar year.
The Bridge Track accepts 30 students per calendar year (Summer).

LSSC is one of the few nursing programs that do not have an expiration date for prerequisite courses. If you have completed the required courses and have earned a minimum grade of “C”, you will not need to retake the course.

General Track
The General Track is a fully seated daytime program conducted Monday through Friday. Scheduled class, lab, and clinical hours vary by week with hours ranging from about 9am-5pm and clinicals from 6am–6pm. Students should plan for about 12 to 25 hours per week in scheduled activities that are generally conducted 4 days per week. Students are encouraged to study 1 hour per 1 class hour.
Bridge Track
The Bridge Track is a hybrid course conducted Monday through Friday. Scheduled class, lab, and clinical times vary by week with hours ranging from about 8am -4pm and clinicals from 6am–6pm. Students should plan for about 6 to 20 hours per week in scheduled activities that are generally conducted 2–4 days per week. Students are encouraged to study 1 hour per 1 class hour.
NOTE: Class times are ONLY approximate and subject to change, potential students should plan to devote full-time to the program.
Yes, you may work while in the program, however, due to the rigorous schedule of the program, students who work more than 24 hours per week may jeopardize their ability to succeed in the program.
Nursing curriculums generally do not align between institutions, so courses are generally not accepted in transfer. Contact AS Nursing for program transfer policy and procedure.
The Preferred Option requires all nine (9) prerequisite courses be completed, with a grade of “C” or better, by the end of the program application submission semester.
The Compressed Option requires a short list of five (5) prerequisite courses be completed, with a grade of “C” or better, the semester before program application submission, with the remaining four (4) to be completed concurrently with nursing courses, as outlined in curriculum.
