First Steps<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Talk to you High School Counselor<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>During your meeting, your Counselor will provide you with&nbsp;the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The link to the Dual Enrollment online application\u00a0<\/li><li>A copy of your GPA verification<\/li><li>A copy of your qualifying test scores<\/li><li>High School Counselor Approval Form\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-after-you-ve-been-accepted\"><strong><strong>2.&nbsp;After&nbsp;You\u2019ve Been Accepted<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Activate your&nbsp;Lakehawk&nbsp;email account&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>Your student email account is how LSSC will communicate with you regarding important updates and information related to being a student.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lssc.edu\/activate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Activate your student email account here<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Attend New Student Orientation<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>Complete the Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) new student orientation program.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lssc.edu\/nso\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Register for orientation<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Students with a 504 or IEP<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>If you have a 504 or IEP, please contact&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lssc.edu\/current-students\/student-accessibility-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Student Accessibility Services.<\/a>&nbsp;At Lake-Sumter State College, we are committed to working with students with disabilities to provide academic accommodations in making Lake-Sumter State College equal access, equal opportunity institution.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-what-s-next\"><strong><strong>3.&nbsp;What\u2019s Next?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Have classes approved<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>Meeting with your High School Counselor prior to the&nbsp;first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lssc.edu\/current-students\/student-payment\/\">fee payment&nbsp;deadline<\/a>&nbsp;to get your classes electronically approved. Failure to have classes approve could result in students being dropped from their classes.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Schedule Changes<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>If you decide to make a change to your schedule, you are required to do so via your myLSSC account and repeat the process by visiting your HS counselor and getting your courses approved electronically by the&nbsp;posted<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lssc.edu\/current-students\/student-payment\/\"> fee payment deadline<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Get your Books<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Private School Students are responsible for purchasing their own textbooks. We encourage students to use the Lake-Sumter State College Bookstore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Textbook approval  process<\/strong> <br>Once your Dual Enrollment classes have been approved by your High School Counselor and the LSSC staff you will receive an email of approval. The next step is to get your textbooks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Changes to your schedule<\/strong><br>If you decide to make a change to your schedule, you are required to do so via your myLSSC account and repeat the process by visiting your HS counselor and getting your courses approved electronically by the posted deadline.
